Mat and Reformer Pilates

Reformer Pilates uses the reformer machine and is more intense and more dynamic than mat based Pilates. This is because resistance is added to the Pilates exercises by springs that form part of the machine.

Reformer Pilates can be used as part of a rehabilitation programme, as well as forming a key component of general fitness, in particular improving overall core strength.

Pilates perfection – work the core to score!

Pilates is great for strengthening the core and establishing correct posture – Pilates exercises can help to alleviate muscle and ligament aches, and misalignment of the back, hip, knees, shoulders and ankles, ensuring we can live everyday life in the best possible shape.

My Pilates sessions incorporate modern exercise principles that are designed to restore the natural curves of the spine and rebalance the muscles around the joints.

In my sessions I include preparatory exercises and modifications to cater for many different body types and abilities, including older people and women who have recently given birth. The benefits of my sessions are suited to almost everyone, and include:

  • Increased strength without unwanted bulk

  • Increased core strength, stability and peripheral mobility

  • Improved fitness levels (which may also help prevent injury)

  • Greater ease of movement

  • Heightened body awareness and mindfulness of movement

  • Decreased impact on the joints

  • Added variety as a compliment to other forms of exercise

  • Improved performance of specific sport skills

  • Enhanced balance, coordination and circulation.

Exercise equipment can include but is not limited to: toning balls, fitness circle, dynabands, foam pads, foam roller.
